k1w1nOz’s NRL R14 Raiders v Sharks DFS Preview

Posted {{post.formattedDate}} by k1w1nOz

A battle between a couple of the comp's heavyweights kicks off round 14 when the 8-5 Raiders host the 7-5 Sharks with both teams playing for a top 4 spot on the ladder.  Single digit temps are expected to greet the Sharks - the dreaded Canberra in Canberra game.

With 6 teams aiming to move into the top 8 heading into the Origin bye, and all but 1 game this round could go either way. It should be a ripper round so let's get amongst it.

With the return of Thurs AFL Draftstars (DS) have dropped tonight's NRL GPP to $5k ($679 1st, 97 ITM) with Moneyball (MB) also posting a $5k GPP ($650 1st, 86 ITM).

GIO Stadium - Thursday 7.50pm

Both the $1.80 Raiders and $2.00 Sharks are playing for their 3rd win on the trot and a spot in the top 4.

From 10,000 match simulations, Stats Insider projects a Raiders win by 2 points and 38 point match total

With both teams expected to score about 3 tries each a balanced lineup seems optimal.

The Raiders have named an unchanged 17, however Josh Papali'i & Dunamis Lui will start in the front row with Ryan Sutton & Sia Soliola playing off the bench.

Josh Morris returns to the Sharks centre forcing Josh Dugan to the wing and Aaron Gray out of the side. Blayke Brailey replaces injured brother Jayden at HK and makes an ideal value play. Wade Graham may move into the starting side, while Shaun Johnson is expected to make his return from injury at the expense of Kyle Flanagan.  Be sure to check final team lists.

Let’s take a look at where tries have been scored & conceded by these teams so far this season.

Below are Fantasy Insider Lineup Cruncher #1 lineups for DS & MB – using Premium subscriber projections with standard cruncher settings – which tends to produce solid cash game lineups, and highlight good core players for GPP’s.

John Bateman & Andrew Fifita are both projected to score over 60 fpts on DS tonight. Blayke Brailey, Jack Wighton, Briton Nikora & Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad have the highest FI projections in their respective positions.

The cruncher loves the value Josh Papalii & Brailey offer on DS - featuring in 100% of the top 10 optimal lineups, along with 90% exposure to Bateman.

FI projections have Bateman, Siliva Havili, Chad Townsend & Jarrod Croker the highest fpt scorers in each of their respective positions on MB.

The looser MB salaries allow the Cruncher to have 100% exposure to Fifita & Bateman, with 90% exposure to Brailey in the top 10 optimal lineups.
