AFLW R1 – SUNDAY $6,000 DAILY

Posted Sun 03 February by Extra Cover

A great three-game AFLW Sunday afternoon slate thanks to Draftstars with mountains of value and plenty of diamonds just laying there ready to be plucked into a winning lineup!

Selection

Erin McKinnon ($9,180):Doesn’t find a lot of the footy (averaged 5 disposals per game last season) but with no Tahlia Randall for Brisbane McKinnon will bank 25-30 hitouts which is a very solid floor in this position. Couple of tackles and those five disposals and were getting our 50pts and getting the hell out of the ruck.

Paige Parker ($5,000): Got to get some min priced players in there and Parker is a good place to start. The Lions first pick in the 2019 draft (#9), Parker is a former touch footy gun who should slot in across half back and help out Lutkins with those intercepts. I’m not expecting much but she has speed and can tackle so a 40-50pt game seems hopeful.

Bri Davey ($11,200): This is a risky play. We have not seen any star players return well from an ACL yet in the AFLW but if anyone can, Davey can. At her best she is in the top 3-4 players in the comp. Averaged over 17 disposals, 3 marks and 3 tackles in her 8 games of AFLW to date playing in the half back line. Davey spent time in the forward line during pre-season matches but she is hands down their best defender and best user, I’d be shocked if she didn’t go back at some stage especially with no Hardiman in that Blues backline.

Alexandra Anderson ($15,380): I’m expecting a real scrap between the arcs in this late game so I’m taking both prime ball-winning tacklers. For the Lions that is Anderson who had an amazing debut season last year averaging 18 disposals and 5 tackles per game. Massive numbers. Probably only gets more responsibility in Stanton’s absence and will need to be super defensively minded with McKinnon giving GWS first use so those tackles could creep up closer to 10.

Alicia Eva ($17,470): Eva was the pickup of the year last year. Averaged 18 disposals and over 7 tackles per game. I’m expecting that as a floor in this game as her and Anderson go at it all game in the midfield.

Elise O’Dea ($16,940): Third premium midfield goes in. O’Dea was already a gun dfs scorer last season but in 2019, that Melbourne midfield must absorb the 18 disposals and 5 tackles per game that Daisey Pearce won’t be getting. A lot of that will go to O’Dea. Runs all game too which will be a huge plus in the 40 degree heat expected in Melbourne for this game.

Allison Drennan ($5,000): I couldn’t afford the reigning Best and Fairest but I have included her Kangaroos apprentice in Drennan. In 14 games for the Southern Saints Drennan averaged 22 disposals and 8 tackles this season. Mature ager (28yrs old) so won’t have any issues with size and should adjust to the speed of AFLW quickly. One of the best cheapies on this slate.

Kate Hore ($11,520): I am hoping Hore can have a big first game here at what will be very very low ownership. Her speed and endurance will be needed in the Melbourne heat against probably the hardest running side in the league. They love it in her hands going inside forward fifty, she kicks goals and fingers crossed Hore may even see some onball minutes in Pearce’s absence. Would love a big 70pt game.

Kellie Gibson ($6,340): The Crows 2017 marquee signing played just one game last season, the final game, for 11 disposals, 1 tackle and 1 goal. She is much better than that. Bargain priced for a player who can roll through the midfield and then push forward and kick goals. Expecting a nice 65-70pt effort from Gibson here.

Salary Remaining: $1,970
